A torch bearer for a younger generation, Jordan Donini is a turtle academic who is taking the world by storm. His work on reproductive biology in chelonians and tireless work in the field in South Florida make him a must follow on social media. The hosts sit down with him in this episode, to fawn over what a delight it must be to learn under him. He is a leader in the new generation of great turtle researchers and champions.
Jordan is a Professor of Biology at Florida Southwestern State College in Naples, Florida, USA. He received his B.S. in Biology from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2011 before traveling to Ghana and Costa Rica on various herpetological projects. He the worked for several years on Sanibel Island at the clinic for the rehabilitation of wild before receiving his M.S. from Southeastern Louisiana University focusing on the Endocrinology of Diamondback terrapins.
Currently his research focuses on the life history and reproductive ecology of Herpetofauna in the coastal states of the Gulf of Mexico, specifically Florida Box Turtles, Diamondback Terrapins, and Striped Mud Turtles along with Banded water snakes.
