Threatened Terrapene ornata Reintroduced Into His Native Habitat
11 Terrapene ornata were reintroduced in their native habitat thanks to the Lincoln Zoo Park. Since this species is threatened, eggs are collected and brought to the zoo to be incubated, avoiding at the same time all the threats from snakes and raccoon. Every turtles from the 240000 acres park are uniquely marked and equipped with a radio transmitter. The program hopes to release 100 more turtles by 2020.
