They Are Not Ninja Turtles But They Still Face a Fight

The Annam leaf turtles (Mauremys annamensis) are now classified as Critically Endangered due to over-hunting for its meat and habitat destruction. They are now on the brink of extinction but some zoos are working hard with this species to save it. At London Zoo, a new habitat has been developed for this species. The habitat resembles a restaurant kitchen so as to attract more visitors but most of all, to send a message. This message is intended to raise awareness about the threats that are facing these animals.
