Renowned Sea Turtle Rehabiliation Program Opens The Doors Of Brand-New State-Of-The-Art Facility

Deep in the southernmost part of the United States lies a gem not yet explored by many Americans. South Padre Island has remained a popular winter destination for winter Texans from around the country, and nestled in the center of the skinny island is one of the country’s most important sea turtle conservation centers. Sea Turtle Inc. was started in 1977 and has been stationed at their cramped facility for 19 years. After being awarded a tremendous grant, they began the construction of a new expansion that would allow for increasing numbers of rescued turtles as well as more elaborate educational programs. Sea Turtle Inc. officially held their grand opening of the brand new facility over the weekend, and the 6 million dollar project boasts huge habitats, intern housing, and an impressive amphitheater. The non-profit organization hopes that this exciting development will contribute to the furtherance of their mission- education, rehabilitation, and conservation. If you are in the Rio Grande Valley, make a stop at Sea Turtle Inc. and see firsthand more of their dedicated work!
