Man Puts His Carpentry Skills and Creativity To Work With Incredibly Designed Tortoise Habitat
When most people think of an off-grid home, they picture a cabin with solar panels, but one man had something completely different in mind. Paul Gordon, the owner of two large Sulcata tortoises, decided to think out of the box when his pets became too large for their enclosure. Knowing the eventual size of these animals, he realized that indoor housing would not be a reality in the near future. In order for outdoor living he needed to provide a source of heat during the cooler months, so he thought up a Crystal Maze-inspired dome greenhouse designed specifically for his beloved cold-blooded companions. Utilizing extensive research, he managed to build a huge glass dome in approximately 4 months. The greenhouse includes a miniature dome in which the tortoises can sleep and hide as well as a relaxation area for the exhausted humans. Paul is now fascinated with his design and is considering furthering his skills with a small business to inspire more families to go off-grid.
