The Ultimate Volunteer Conservation Program An Incredible Learning Experience And Adventure

A little known niche in Greece is home to the Archelon, which is contributing to conservation efforts in an incredible way. This organization has dedicated its efforts to sea turtle conservation in the country of Greece, and its work is largely supported by passionate volunteers who donate their time and energy into an array of activities. One of the spots that their work is focused on is known as Zakynthos, which is home to the rapidly diminishing Caretta caretta. Multiple disruptions to their fragile ecosystem are the main culprit for their notable decline; however, Archelon has initiated many conservation efforts, including monitoring activities and public outreach programs. Volunteers search for and protect nests and hatchlings as well as heading beach cleanings and presentations, to name a few. Promoting such public awareness as well as the continued volunteer work is key to the survival of this marine species.
