Article quote ” Shane Davies and Neville Parkes share a passion for turtles and they have a group of volunteers that share that love. “No one else is crazy enough to get in the dams like we are,” Mr Parkes said. “Development is happening everywhere — even over the (Blue) mountains and on the Central Coast. We’re always keeping an eye on dams across Sydney.”

Species Facts…
The Leopard tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis) is a large and attractively marked tortoise found in the savannas of Eastern and Southern Africa, from Sudan to the southern Cape. This chelonian is a grazing species of tortoise that favours semi-arid, thorny to grassland habitats, although some leopard tortoises have been found in rainier areas. In both very hot and very cold weather they may dwell in abandoned fox, jackal, or anteater holes.
