Through radiographs, they discovered the poor guy had a collapsed lung that could be related to his old shell injury. Hermann’s tortoise (Testudo hermanni). Conservation status: Endangered. Hermann’s tortoises are small to medium-sized tortoises from southern Europe. The specific epithet, hermanni, honors French naturalist Johann Hermann.
