Ghanaian Turtles In Danger

Sea turtles in Ghana lack attention. Despite the fact that sea turtles are classed in the first category of fully protected animals in Ghana, some fishermen admit that they still kill turtles because they destroy their nets. A conservation site for turtles has been set up and killing such animals is now punishable by the law. Community volunteers and school children patrol the beaches to deter potential poachers. This region has the highest population of sea turtles on Ghana, yet, their numbers continue to fall.
