New Hope For Psammobates Geometricus
With 95% of its natural habitat destroyed, something had to be done. Rainforest Trust in collaboration with the Turtle Conservancy and South African Turtle Conservation Trust recently purchased 212 acres of shrubland habitat. This protected area is the natural habitat of the Endangered Psammobates geometricus and will likely provide space for 200 tortoises. This species’ total wild population is less than 1000, its status should soon be changed to Critically Endangered. Read more about this article here and read more about the project here
