Teen Conservationist An Inspiration For Generations To Come

Spending hours in the hot sun to erect a enclosed pen- it sounds like a job which someone would hire out; however, this high schooler had other plans. Ben Voth is a passionate conservationist who lives in Agoura Hills, California. A member of Boy Scouts, he decided to use his learned skills to benefit the local wildlife, starting with the Agoura Hills Animal Shelter. After observing with great disappointment the living conditions of the rescued chelonians housed at the facility, he came up with a brilliant idea. Voth took the initiative and diligently raised enough funds to provide materials to construct brand new outdoor habitats for the turtles. Complete with ponds as well as predator proof fencing, the new outdoor enclosures are the perfect upgrade for the shelter’s hard-shelled inhabitants. Voth didn’t think twice about this important project, putting to use his valuable lessons and knowledge to further the well-being of the reptiles that wait for their forever home at the Agoura Shelter. He hopes that this will inspire this generation as well as future generations to conserve the animals and their ecosystems, not just in his California town, but around the world.
