Commemorating Half A Century Of Sea Turtle Conservation Work And The Incredible Successes That Have Ensued
The beautiful British territory of Bermuda is well known for it’s stunning beaches and tourist attractions; however, it is also a hotspot for many of the world’s endangered sea turtles. The Bermuda Turtle Project, or the BTP, has spent fifty years working tirelessly on their mission to bring back these animals from their path to extinction. Partnering with the Bermuda Zoological Society, the Bermuda Aquarium Museum & Zoo, and the Sea Turtle Conservancy, they are the foremost experts on the sea turtles of Bermuda and have been extremely successful in causing a major rebound in the populations of multiple species. Based on their extensive and thorough research, they hold some of the world’s most detailed records regarding these ocean creatures. As they have reached their 50th anniversary, there is great cause for celebration and plans for educational events as well as volunteer opportunities are in the making. The BTP even launched their first postage stamp for the special event and they believe it will become a best-selling item. As they begin the festivities, the organization states that they plan to continue their current work with hopes for increasing successes in the world of sea turtle conservation.
