Bundaberg’s Mon Repos Turtle Centre gets $10m for expansion
One of Bundaberg’s signature tourist attractions is set to receive a much needed upgrade. The Queensland Government has included $10 million in the state budget to expand the Mon Repos Turtle Centre. Bundaberg MP Leanne Donaldson said the investment, expected to support up to 20 local construction jobs, would improve the centre’s research facilities and attract more tourists to the region. Sea Turtle Week 2016, Join NOAA as they celebrate Sea Turtle Week to highlight these fascinating creatures! Of the 7 species of sea turtles, 6 are found in U.S. waters. All sea turtles occurring in U.S. waters are listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). 10 populations are endangered and 6 populations are threatened.
