Dubai Works On The Conservation Of The Hawksbill Turtle
The hawksbill turtle is native to that region and there are only 8000 estimated nesting females worldwilde. The Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project has been working with this species for about 11 years, releasing more than 800 turtles. The goal of this project is to increase the number of turtles in the wild and also to study their movements by using satellite technology. On top of that, this project takes injured turtles where intensive care and rehabilitation is provided. One of the injured turtle they received needed 3 years to rehabilitate.
