Students help release sea turtles
After a week packed full of stories Sunday is quiet. We have a stories about the Jetty High School students releasing sea turtles as part of the “Scientists In Schools” program. A sea turtle rescue as told from the coast guards perspective and a plea not to dump your unwanted turtles in the Vancouver Parks Lakes. Did You Know…
The hawksbill sea turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) is a critically endangered sea turtle. They mate biannually in secluded lagoons off their nesting beaches in remote islands throughout their range. Mating season for Atlantic hawksbills usually spans April to November. Indian Ocean populations, such as the Seychelles hawksbill population, mate from September to February.
