Diamondback Terrapins on the move

So it’s starting to warm up in North American and the Diamondback terrapins are stirring into life as the Turtle Journal team are finding out. The Brevard Zoo in Florida would like the public to report sightings of the East Coast Diamondback Terrapin, they are concerned about their population. A vet in the UK examines 162 tortoise for post hibernation issues. Three sea turtle stories, a video about the Xcaret Sea Turtle Release program, Madonna to be returned to the sea on Monday after recovering from an oil spill and the police rescuing a pair of sea turtles.

The diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin) is divided into seven recognised subspecies. They inhabit very narrow strips of coastal habitats on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States, from as far north as Cape Cod, Massachusetts to the southern tip of Florida and around the Gulf Coast to Texas.
