Anthony displays how his Cuora flavomarginata use different methods when eating different food items
Interestingly, in the time we have had Cuora flavomarginata under our care, we have noticed their ferocious manner of eating live prey items and delicate methods in consuming pellets and plant matter.
This is another inside look of his new assurance colony project in collaboration with the TSA and the Cuora flavomarginata Taxon Management Group. The Chinese Yellow Margined Box Turtle (Cuora flavomarginata) is classified as an endangered species by the IUCN. The animas we are keeping are still owned by the TSA. Of any offspring produced in our care, half will be ours, and half will be returned to the TSA for return to range countries into protected habitats, hopefully.
This species was, for a time, classified under the genus Cistoclemmys along with the bourreti, galbinifrons, mccordi, and picturata species. The Cuora/Cistoclemmys argument rages on, and both genus names are heard being used throughout the scientific community.
