Alligator Snapping Turtles to be released

Peoria zoo is participating in the release of 100 Alligator Snapping Turtles (Macrochelys temminckii)
per year for the next 5 years and Pakistan to employ DNA barcodes as a way to identify species to curb illegal trade, see the Conservation section. A few reports on turtle race’s this week and if you fancy an art project involving turtles the see the Miscellany section. There are a few happy owners this week after their tortoise where discovered safe and sound and of course a missing Sulcata (Centrochelys sulcata), see the Lost & Found section.

Indian flapshell turtle (Lissemys punctata) is a freshwater species found in Pakistan, India (common in lakes and rivers), Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh (Indus and Ganges drainages), and Burma (Irrawaddy and Salween Rivers).
